MARJORIE ETHEL BEATRICE BOSWELL (nee DOOLAN) 1918 - 2009 On Monday, August 24, 2009; peacefully, at the Grace Hospital, Marjorie passed away with family at her side at the age of 91 years. Remaining to forever cherish Marjorie's memory are her daughter Adaire (Nick); son Kerry (Christina); grandchildren Brendan (Danielle), Heather, Kaitlin, and Meagan. She is also survived by one sister, Wilene Doolan of Winnipeg. Marjorie will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and their children. She was predeceased by Howard, her husband of 60 years; her parents, William and Sarah; two brothers, Reginald and George; and two sisters, Mina and Lynne. Born in Winnipeg on March 11, 1918, Marge was the fourth child to William and Sarah Doolan. She grew up on Young Street and attended Gordon Bell High School. After high school, Marge pursued a career with Federal Grain before marrying Howard Boswell in 1942. After marriage, Howard and Marge lived in various communities around Manitoba for short periods of time before moving to Brock Street in Winnipeg where they settled down to raise their family. She was a life time member of St. Aidan's Anglican Church and was a tireless volunteer, active in various capacities. She served on the Altar Guild for many years. Marge was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star from the early 1950's onward where she made many lifelong friends, becoming Worthy Matron of St. John's Chapter No. 18 in 1976. Above all, Marge's greatest joy was her family and she looked forward to each and every visit. She always went out of her way to make you feel welcome. Entertaining was a particular pleasure for Mom, her shortbread was a legendary delicacy for guests. Marge was pleased to be able to pass on the secrets of her shortbread to her grandchildren who will carry on the family recipe for the fifth generation. Marjorie's graveside service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. John's Cathedral Cemetery, 135 Anderson Avenue. Marjorie's funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Aidans Anglican Church, 274 Campbell Street, with The Rev. Ken Turnbull, presider. The family would like to thank the WRHA Home Care staff for their exceptional support and care provided over the years.
