Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryINGEBORG NYHUUS Ingeborg (Ing) Nyhuus (nee Lund) died peacefully and in the embrace of her family, on August 23, 2009, in Winnipeg. Born September 26, 1919 in Sandvika, Norway, Ing was nine years old when she came by boat to Canada with her parents Gustav and Hjordis (Resvoll) and five siblings to settle in Temiscaming, Quebec. Ing was predeceased by brothers Fritz and Johan, sisters Vera and Helen. She is survived by youngest brother Einar. On July 25, 1945, Ing married Norwegian Airforce pilot, Jack (Jacken) Harry Nyhuus (1917-1998), launching a life of adventure, love and family. Around the world - Norway, Canada, Thailand, the Philippines, Nepal and Maldives - Ingeborg was a devoted wife, mother and friend, nurturing love in every home, for every member of her family and for so many others whose lives she touched. Over 53 years of marriage, Ingeborg became a mother of five, Helen (Ed), Jan-Erik (Monica), Peter (1953-1965), Kenneth (Anne) and James (Baillie), and a grandmother of ten - Paul (Joan), Robert, Tamara (Roy), Susan, Peter, Samuel, Erik, Thomas, Jake and Rachael. Ing's last seven years were spent in Winnipeg where she embraced a new life at the Waverley Retirement Community. Our warmest thoughts are with Douglas Halliday, with whom Mum found love and companionship and shared many new adventures. Her family is grateful for the exceptional and loving care provided by the staff who became family at the Victoria General Hospital. A service in celebration of her life will be held on her 90th birthday, September 26th, in Ottawa, details to follow.
