Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryORVILLE (ORVAL) DOUGLAS TROOP February 14, 1926 - August 30, 2009 A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, uncle, friend and community member unexpectedly passed to his rest in the early hours of August 30, 2009 at the Portage General Hospital after a brief illness. Orval leaves his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Gwendolyn (Goodridge), sons Doug (Jayne), Keith (Cheryl), Ron, Larry (Pat) Bradley, and Tim Bradley (Wendy Kodama); daughters Colleen (Darrell Fedak), Marilyn (Linden McCarty), Pamela (Gordon Weir), Joni Bradley, and Cynthia (Bela Incze); 23 cherished grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy Troop, Laura Lyall, Phyllis Ranson, Beryl Johnston, and Mabel McConochie; brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Nan McConochie, and Bob and Diane McConochie; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his father Herbert in 1963; tragically by his mother Eva (McKelvy) and his first wife Helen (McConochie) in 1966; and more recently by loving sister Phyllis Sloik and much loved brother Alvin Troop; and brothers-in-law Milton Sloik, Jack McConochie, John Lyall, Fred Ranson and Duncan Johnston. A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009 at the William Glesby Centre, 11-2nd Street N.E., Portage la Prairie. Private interment will precede the service. Ron Moffit, Funeral Director, is in charge of arrangements. If friends so desire, contributions to the Portage Hospital Foundation or the Amazing Facts Canada charitable organization (Box 344, 125A - Denman Street, Vancouver, BC) would be greatly appreciated.
