NANCY BRUNEAU (nee HAWKINS) February 19, 1937 - August 31, 2009 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that Nancy died peacefully at home, surrounded by love, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 72. We lost her one day short of her 53rd wedding anniversary with her dedicated husband Marcel (Mark). Alongside her husband, she leaves to mourn her daughter Wendy, husband Jim and granddaughters: Julie and Jenna; her son Tony, wife Carol and grandchildren: Matt, Chris and Nikki; and granddaughter Amanda. Nancy also has a very tight-knit group of special life-long friends that are feeling her loss with us at this time. She is also survived by her sister Kathy (Ray Burnette), her brother Hal and sister-in-law Nancy, brother-in-law Mike, and sisters-in-law Joyce and Jeannette and their families. Gone before her but not forgotten are her sons Ricky and Gerry, her sister Carol, her parents, and brothers-in-law Jacques (Coco) and Bill. Nancy was born in Montreal, and moved to Manitoba with her family as a young child, where she made her home and family for her entire life. Nancy's favourite things were to spend time with her family at Falcon Lake, adding to her never-ending copper collection, and spending many hours working on her needlepoint and cross-stitch pictures. After Nancy and Mark retired, they enjoyed 20 years wintering in Texas, where they made many wonderful friends. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to Dr. Pat Harris and the Oncology Department at Concordia Hospital, along with the nurses from Regional Health Care, especially Janice Bradford. We would also like to thank the wonderful team from Palliative Care that made every effort to make Nancy comfortable, especially Olga Paliyenko. You really do make a difference! A memorial service celebrating Nancy's life will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. If friends so desire, donations in Nancy's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.
