Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS WILLIAM WOODWARD April 5, 1941 - August 31, 2009 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on August 31, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre from complications of surgery. Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Anne and his first wife, Susan; Tom leaves a wife of nine years, Cheryl, daughter Ainsley, son Craig (Erin, Andrew and Daniel), step-daughter Jennifer (Mike and Grace), step-son Kent (Mesia, Jun and Isaac), brother Fred (Vernice), nieces Lenore, Kim (Jeff) and nephew Vance and several cousins across the prairies. Tom was born in The Pas and moved to Winnipeg in his teens, where he then went to the University of Manitoba to become a pharmacist. Tom later went to the University of Alberta where he earned his Masters in Hospital Administration, working in Portage la Prairie, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Churchill. He retired at 60. Always an intrepid traveller, Tom was able to take his family on many great trips all over the world, from Hong Kong to Africa. He was an avid stamp collector and spent hours on the computer trading stamps with people worldwide. A self taught carpenter and all around handy man, Tom was never afraid to tackle the largest projects, from home renovations and rebuilding his garage to extending the family cottage at Victoria Beach along with building a bunk house for the grand kids. Tom gained a reputation with neighbours as the resident fix it man on Queenston Bay. He was always there to help a neighbour and his family with various projects. He spent many summers at the family cottage at Victoria Beach, his own little piece of paradise. He always enjoyed happy hour on the deck with his family and friends. The Woodwards would like to thank the SICU staff at Health Sciences Centre for their tender, professional care of Tom. A memorial service will take place at St. George's Anglican Church, 168 Wilton Street (corner of Grosvenor and Wilton) on September 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place and interment at Victoria Beach cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's name to the St. George's Memorial Fund would be appreciated. Our absent friend, you will be truly missed

Tom and I walked to and from school every day for two years--grades 11 and 12. We went to the university together for three years car--pooling. Tom was one year ahead of me at the school of pharmacy. We curled together for three years 1962 -- 1964. Tom was a lovely man. I came across his obituary by sheer chance. Neither of us had a brother or sister. If I could have ever chosen a brother, I would have liked him to be exactly like Tom. Good bye my dear friend, David Heming - Posted by: David Heming (an old friend) on: May 24, 2022
