THOMAS DUBOWITS 1930 - 2009 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Dubowits of Fisher Branch at the Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, MB on August 31, 2009. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 49 years Nellie, son Murray, daughter Lisa, and granddaughter Alanna. Also left to mourn are his brother Herb Dubowits (Julie), sisters Eleanor Baron and Linda Baldes; brother-in-law John Chikousky (Margaret); sisters-in-law Elizabeth Boitson (Joe) and Leda Horodecki (Len) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom was predeceased by his son Ronald in 1978, father Mike in 1980 and his mother Sophie in 1989. Tom was born on January 24, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Gonor, Manitoba. He moved to Fisher Branch in 1958 to manage the liquor mart for the M.L.C.C. He married Nellie on November 7, 1959. In his early years Tom was involved in the Fisher Branch minor hockey club. In 1980 Tom was appointed to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery Committee as treasurer and has held that position until his passing. Tom retired from the M.L.C.C. on January 13, 1990. He enjoyed 19 years of retirement which included spending time with his family, gardening, and enjoying the wildlife on his land. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, MB. Interment to follow in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Father Harry Chuckry officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermott Ave. or the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Box 130, Fisher Branch, MB R0C 0Z0.
