CHARLES SINCLAIR CHEYNE 1922 - 2009 With great sadness the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Charles Cheyne on August 31, 2009 at the Hunter Memorial Hospital. Charlie is survived by his wife of 53 years Elma; daughters Leanne (Barry), Valdine (Al), and Joan, son David (Audrey), twelve beloved grandchildren Lavon (Rick), Dean (Medea), Les (Julia), Trevor, Randi (Chris), Kevin (Lindsay), Chelsey, Jordan, Carley, Ashley (Nick), Denise, Janine; nine cherished great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters Marjory and Isabelle and brother Stewart as well as in-laws Leonard (Margaret), Melvin (Angela), Clifford (Barbara), Arlene (Brian), and Donald (Fran). He was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Marjory; sister Margaret and brother Jim; Elma's parents Einar and Capitola; brothers-in-law Lawrence, Magnus and Cal; and sisters-in-law Edith, Roxanne and Kay. He was born west of Teulon on April 28, 1922 and attended school in Teulon until Grade 7. He then went on to further his education in carpentry at MIT in Winnipeg. In the 1940s he travelled the world as a Merchant Seaman, worked on the ships of the Great Lakes, built elevators in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and worked for Pine Falls Pulp and Paper. He was a carpenter by trade and built many homes and projects throughout the Interlake. His leisure time was spent fishing, hunting, gardening, and berry picking. He was a member of the Teulon Golf Club and served on the executive. Besides spending time with family he loved spending time with friends and neighbours, socializing and playing cards. During that time you could always hear a good story or two. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. The family would like to thank the homecare workers and doctors, nurses and staff at the Hunter Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital Foundation, Teulon, MB. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre with private family interment to follow later. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
