Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGWENDOLENE GLENAT Gwendolene Glénat died peacefully on August 31, 2009 at Victoria Hospital. Gwen was predeceased by her husband Lucien on July 7, 1976, son Perry on October 15, 2008, parents John and Ellen, and by her sisters, Florence, Lillian, Edna and Peggy. Gwen began life as Gwendolene Gale, the first daughter to John and Ellen Gale of Leeds, England to be born in Canada on May 4, 1913. She is survived by her children, Suellen (Bill), Marc (Lorilee), Léonie (Stephen), her five grandchildren, Lauralea, Kristina, Christopher, Michael and Jaime and by her seven great-grandchildren as well as by her dearest sister Mary Deveau, and nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S. Gwen was a woman of many talents. Able to crotchet at three years of age, Gwen apprenticed at a young age as a dress designer with Mme. de Barrellie and with Suzanne Glénat-Phillips who was to become her future mother-in-law. Gwen was well known in Winnipeg for her outstanding dressmaking and designing abilities, her specialization being wedding gowns. Gwen will be lovingly remembered by those who knew her for her kindness and compassion, her independence, and for her strength and determination. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, Grosvenor at Wilton. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations may be made to St. George's Anglican Church (Cresentwood). Chapel Lawn 885-9715
