Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET OLIVE BROWNLIE (nee HALLETT) Margaret passed away peacefully in Riverview Palliative Care Thursday, August 27, 2009. Margaret was born at Harding, MB May 12, 1922. Dad being employed with C.P. Rail meant moving to various small towns until settling in Virden, MB where Margaret graduated from Virden Collegiate. Completing a business course, Margaret was employed at No. 19 Elementary Flying Training School, Virden, during the second World War. In 1945 Margaret married Ronald Brownlie. They resided on the family farm until moving to Winnipeg in 1957. Margaret worked for Office Overload primarily at the U. of M., R.C.M.P., and Department of Agriculture. A year after Ron's death in 1991 she moved to McClure Place. In their early years Margaret and Ron loved square dancing. Margaret was an avid reader, enjoyed live theatre, the symphony pops series, travelling to England and several cruises with niece Heather. Although Margaret's eyesight was failing it never deterred her from her daily activities. Her life changed forever in 2004 when she was brutally attacked by a purse snatcher, her fall resulting in a broken hip. She was stricken with Myathania Gravis and spent many months in the Grace Hospice. When the disease went into remission she moved to the Thorvaldson's Care Home, then to Portsmouth Senior's Residence where she resided until her cancer became unmanageable. Margaret is survived by her sister Elaine (George) Rinn, niece Heather (Mike) Mounsteven, nephew Brad (Susan) Rinn, nephew Brian (Sandra Smith) Rinn, great- nephew Joe Mohos, great-niece and great- nephew Pauline and Mark Rinn, great-nephew Brenden Smith, as well as relatives in England. In accordance with Margaret's wishes cremation has taken place at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. Interment to take place at a later date in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Brandon, MB. The family thanks the Riverview staff for the compassionate care they gave Margaret, Dorothy Wood for the many things she did for Margaret, Marianne Wiebe, Julie Bubnick, Gladys Chapman, and Pat Boyd for being there for Margaret. In lieu of flowers if friends so wish, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to CancerCare or the Institute for the Blind. Neil Bardal Inc. in care of arrangements in Winnipeg, Carscadden's Funeral Home, Virden, MB in care of interment. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
