Born: Nov 02, 1952
Date of Passing: Oct 01, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID JOHN TEVENDALE 1952-2009 It is with profound sorrow that I, Jean Tevendale, announce the accidental passing of my son and only child, David in Calgary, AB. He was born in Winnipeg on November 2, 1952, and was predeceased by his father Alex on October 1, 2003. He is survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins. David was a high energy child where very few vertical obstacles slowed him down. All his schooling was in East Kildonan where he attended Hampstead School, Munroe Jr. High, and Miles MacDonnell Collegiate. He was very active in all sports, but excelled in hockey and baseball. He discovered his love of the outdoors and honed those skills as a cub, and boy scout. He tested his wings at various occupations in Winnipeg and Toronto. He then returned to Winnipeg to work at his Dad's Techmatic Art Store. Eventually, he moved to Regina to manage the branch operation. Upon sale of the company, he transferred to Edmonton to work for the new owner. In 1984 Calgary was calling to him. He listened, and there he enjoyed 12 years as a successful liquor representative. Being an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed and pursued all types of these activities, he bought a cabin cruiser and sailed it on the Kootenay Lake in Nelson Area BC. This allowed him to be outdoors where he was able to enjoy what Mother Nature had to offer along with a short career as a lumberjack. In 1998, he moved back to Calgary where he re-established himself in the sales and marketing industry. Throughout his life, music was his passion and his trusty guitar was always at his side. He was always ready to play it for his friends as well as playing in several bands. He was admired by his friends and family for his wonderful sense of humor and quick quips. He was there to offer advice to anyone who seeked it and quick to lend a helping hand to friends or strangers, not seeing someone in want. During his short life he was plagued by severe allergies and most recently experienced bouts of ill health. David you were loved so very deeply, and that love will remain in my heart. Tell your Dad I miss him oh so very much. Love you both. A memorial reception will be held on Wednesday September 9, 2009 between 2:00 p.m and 4:00 p.m, with eulogy at 3:00 p.m in the Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB.
