Born August 12, 1912 in Norwood Grove, Winnipeg, Manitoba, died September 2, 2009 at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood, Ontario. Dear wife of the late Wilbrod (Wib) John Heenan. Mother of Leslie Ann Hickey (deceased) and husband Thomas; Peter Walter Heenan and wife Beverley; Heather Ruth Heenan and husband Stanley Dowling; John Stuart Heenan and wife Ingrid Liem. Grandmother to Thomas Andrew (Drew), Pamela and Peter Hickey, Aurora Heenan, Isabelle Hertanto and Ashley Heenan. Great-grandmother to Jessica and Grant Hickey. Sister of Jean McCudden (deceased), Stuart, Grant (deceased) and Frank Leslie. Ruth graduated as a nurse from St. Boniface School of Nursing, Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1933. She worked in the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic at John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. She was one of the original 16 founding Stewardesses of Trans-Canada Airlines class of 1939. Ruth was Camp Calumet nurse for over 30 years. Ruth was also a life long supporter of the Liberal Party. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Streetsville United Church (274 Queen St. S., Streetsville, ON; (905)826-1542) from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Service of Remembrance at 4:00 p.m. Interment Streetsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, 936 The East Mall, Toronto, Ontario M9B 6J9.
