PIETERNELLA JACOBS (KONING) It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the departure of my wonderful wife, mother and Oma on September 5, 2009 at 10:45 p.m., with the love and comfort given to her by her family at the age of 91 at the Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Frans and Sophia Koning, her sisters Sophia, Janna, Gretha (Ko), Francisca (Johannes), Henny, brother Frans (Nel). She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her husband Hendrik of 60 years, son Hendrik (Rita), Peter (Donna), grandchildren Sarah, Michael, Katryna, Justin and Aleesha, her brother in law Gerard and numerous nieces and nephews in the Netherlands and Germany. Pieternella was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on November 7, 1917. She became an accomplished piano teacher, devoting many hours teaching children music, while working as a legal secretary in a lawyer's office. She passed on the love of music and piano playing to her nieces and nephews. She was most delighted when during a trip to the Netherlands on a warm spring day, the family of her oldest niece played their musical instruments putting on a memorable concert. She married Hendrick Herman Jacobs in 1949 in Amsterdam. In 1958, she immigrated to Winnipeg with her husband and two sons. While in Winnipeg she worked part time for Office Overload and full time for Eaton's until 1971. In her spare time, she enjoyed teaching music and piano to children in the Kings Park / Ft. Richmond community. She found great pleasure in gardening, travelling, and interacting with family, friends, neighbours and members of Epiphany Lutheran Church. We wish to thank the medical staff, nurses and all those who cared for Pieternella at the Concordia Hospital. The celebration of her life will be held at the Epiphany Lutheran Church on September 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., 200 Dalhousie Drive, Pastor Ed Mitchler officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Jacobs, Justin Jacobs, Justin Rice, Clarence Cherewyk, Gordon Fleming, John Mestery. In lieu of flowers, friends, relatives may desire to make a donation to Victoria General Hospital Foundation or Concordia Hospital Foundation or the Epiphany Lutheran Church, in memory of Pieternella Jacobs. Safe in the arms of her redeemers Jesus Christ, the son of our Lord God. May her soul rest in peace. NEIL BARDAL INC. 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
