THORA SVANKVIT WALSH On September 7, 2009, Thora passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home with her family by her side. Thora was born in Iceland on December 21, 1916 and moved to Selkirk with her family in 1924. She was predeceased by her loving husband George, her parents Kris, Margret, brothers Oscar, Tubby, Mindy, Kris, sister Alda and grandchild Jackie. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Sue (Ted), Kris (Ellen), Tim (Tammy), George and Larry, grandchildren, her beloved Taigan Marie, Kerry Marie, Jackie (Eric), James (PJ), Kayla, Jessica (Dion), Rick (Mel), Alan (Lisa) and great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Drew, Kaylen, Tabitha, Sydney and Jason. Mom and Dad married in 54 and travelled the world with the air force. She loved family and friends to come over and cooked for up to 20 people every Sunday in the air force days. She loved to see family together and instilled this in all of us. Mom loved her grandchildren and they lit up her world. She always said her most prized possession was her family and how close we all remain. Thanks to St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care and Home Care. As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service or flowers sent. The family will have a celebration in her honour at a later date.
