ARTHUR (ARCHIE) MCKAY Peacefully, on September 7, 2009 Arthur McKay passed away at the age of 80 years, at the E.M. Crowe Hospital in Eriksdale, Manitoba. He is survived by brothers Paul McKay, Emile McKay and wife Darlene, Albert McKay and wife Donna; sisters Rosalie Chartrand, Irene and husband Nick Luik; nephew Harold Olson and wife Monica and his special niece Charlene McKay and special nephew Ambroise McKay. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by his parents Ambroise and Amelie McKay, brother Stanley McKay, sisters Marie Thiessen, Herveline Desjarlais, Dora Premack, Elsie Olson, Clemence McKay, Victoria McKay, Elizabeth McKay and nephew Paul Jr. McKay. Arthur was born January 18, 1929 in St. Laurent, MB, where he was raised. As a young man he went to work in the bush camps in Ontario. He was also a fisherman on Lake Manitoba for many years. He loved farming and hunting and he especially loved to spend his time fixing cars and tractors or anything that needed by be repaired. Arthur loved to spend time with his friends and talk; he was a good listener and loved to have a good laugh when someone had a joke to tell him. He lived at the Laurentia Lodge in St. Laurent for many years, and then moved to the St. Laurent Assisted Living Centre for a couple years. His final home was at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home. Prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11 at the St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church. The service will conclude at the church. Rev. Fr. Rene Katcha Digba will officiate. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
