Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN ADAMS On September 6, 2009 Helen Adams passed away peacefully at Middlechurch Home. She will be dearly missed by her surviving family, daughters Linda (Jack) Bernhardt, and Barbara McCallum, grandchildren: Warren (Jenn), Laura, and great-granddaughter Jessica. She is also survived by her brothers Julius (Doris) and Jack (Irene) Klassen, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Helena and Julius Klassen, sister Maria Neustaedter, two brothers Abe and Frank, and her dear son-in-law Jack McCallum. Helen was born September 27, 1912 in Arkadak, Russia, the eldest of six children. They immigrated to Canada in December 1925, and after a long winter moved to Fannystelle, Manitoba. It was here that her explicit interest in weather forecasting began. She met Hermann Wagner and was married in 1941, moving to St. Catharine's, Ontario, where her two daughters were born. After Hermann's death in 1948, she returned to Winnipeg and worked at Eaton's while raising her girls. In 1952 she married Arnold Adams, and the family grew with two stepdaughters, their spouses and children. He predeceased her in 1995. Helen enjoyed bowling, watching curling on TV, and was a loyal Blue Bomber fan. She took great pride in cooking and baking, and had many secret recipes which everyone enjoyed and coveted. The adventure of travel to Europe, Mexico, and parts of Canada were enjoyable to her. She was loving, self sacrificing, loyal and independent. She met her many hardships with a strong faith, which was nurtured as an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2009 at Klassen Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3L 0K6, or Ronald McDonald House, 566 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg R3A 0G7. Special thanks for the care and kindness given to Mom by the staff of Middlechurch Home. Our greatest blessing was you, Mom. Thank you for your prayers and loving us with all your heart and soul.
