MARY JOSEPHINE VELTRI (ALBO)
Born: Nov 22, 1913
Date of Passing: Sep 06, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY JOSEPHINE VELTRI (nee ALBO) Passed away peacefully at the Taché Centre on Sunday, September 6, 2009 in her 95th year. She leaves to mourn her children, Patricia Fairfield (Ian) and Joanne Veltri, and grandsons Sean, Jason and Kevin Fairfield. Mary was born in Grimaldi, Italy on November 22, 1913. When Mary was six years old, the Albo family immigrated to Canada where her father worked for the CNR. As a young girl, Mary loved school and was intensely interested in learning and reading, a trait she carried throughout her life. She had many friends. She married her husband Tom in 1932 and had five children. As a deeply religious woman, she was very involved in her church and volunteered her time whenever she could. For most of her life, she belonged to Holy Cross and St. Thomas More parishes. She was an extremely creative person and spent many years learning new skills which she continued to teach to individuals and groups of all ages. Mary was very generous of herself, her time and whatever resources she had. She was the first to help someone in need. She could always be counted on for a warm smile, a loud laugh, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, a hot meal, or some words of wisdom. She was predeceased by her husband Aquino (Thomas) and three children, Joan, Tommy and recently her eldest son John and son-in-law Ian Fairfield. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Taché Centre for the wonderful care that Mary received during her latter years as well as to her beloved sister-in-law Anita Albo. In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy, the family asks you to perform an unexpected act of kindness today, just as Mary did so often in her life. A notice will be posted at a later date for the funeral/memorial services, which are being planned for next month (October).
