BERNARD ALDEN FUNK It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandfather on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at home, at the age of 77 years. Bernie will be lovingly remembered by those closest to him: his loving wife Margaret, of 55 years; children, Cindy and Randy Strong, Barb and Byron Zehr, Deb and Glen Kuhl and Brent Funk and Terri Gates; grandchildren, Adam Strong, Megan (Zehr) and Adam Thiessen, Jessica Zehr, Brittany (Kuhl) and Jordan Hiebert, Teri, Amanda and Nicole Kuhl. Also mourning his loss are brothers, Henry (Katherine) Funk and Ed (Hilda) Funk; sister-in-law Teenie Funk; and brother-in-law Peter Loewen; and also from Margaret's family, Peter and Elizabeth Becker, Anne Braun, Kay Thiessen, Henry and Lydia Voth, Hedy Thiessen and Jack and Aggie Dyck. Bernie was predeceased by parents, Heinrich and Anna Funk; brothers, Tony and Bill; sister Helen; sister-in-law Trudy; Margaret's parents, Aron and Margaretha Thiessen; brothers-in-law, Aron and John Thiessen and John Braun. Bernie was born on June 7, 1932, in Rosenfeld, MB. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith on June 1, 1952. After school, he moved to Winnipeg to pursue a career in accounting and real estate. Here he met and married Margaret, the love of his life. His dedication to his family was unfailing; nothing was more important. His caring nature was consistent with family, friends and clients alike. Many life-long friendships were developed through business interactions. As a family, we are comforted in knowing that he is safe at home with his Lord and Saviour. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave.
