DAVID W. HURL It is with sorrow and sadness that the family announces the passing of David Hurl, peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on September 10, 2009. Dave is survived by his loving wife Margaret of 62 years; his sons, David (Cindy) Vernon, BC, Paul (Jan) Edmonton, AB; his grandchildren, David, Kristen (Matt), Jaime (Dave) and Megan (Mark); and two great-grandsons, Tyson and Thomas. He leaves a brother Leslie in Victoria and was predeceased by his brother Ernest. Dave was born in November, 1922 in Winnipeg. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy as a boy seaman in 1940 and was seconded to the British Navy for the duration of the war. He served two tours with the RCN during the Korean War where he was Mentioned in Dispatches for displaying commendable personal courage. We are very proud that a picture of this action hangs in the National War Museum in Ottawa. In his later years, he found much pleasure in his music and the frequent visits of his sons and their families. They came often. He was a kind and gentle man and he will be missed. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) on Wednesday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Dave's memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, #6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the charity of their choice. Deep are the memories Precious they stay, No passing of time Can take them away. Forever in our Hearts NEIL BARDAL INC. 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
