David was predeceased by his parents, his older brother George and twin brother Robin. David was born at Villa Henderson in Livorno, Italy, and was schooled in England. During the war he was sent to North America for pilot's training, and it was in New York that he met Margaret Petrie, whom he was to marry in 1951. He later earned his B.Sc. at the University of Aberdeen and in 1950 came to Canada, eventually landing in the mining industry. He worked for Inco from 1956-86 in general engineering. His was one of the pioneer families in what was then the new town of Thompson, Manitoba, moving there in early 1959. He was an avid gardener, photographer, golfer and winemaker. After retiring, he and Peggy moved to Winnipeg and he kept busy with hobbies, travel and work on the board at Vic Wyatt House. David's final years were restricted by the onset of vascular dementia, but he remained good natured and gentlemanly throughout. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Bonlevard.
