LUCIEN BOUCHARD 1923 - 2009 It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, pepère and great-grandfather who left us peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the age of 86. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Thérèse; his children, Hélène, André (Mary Ann), Yvonne (Bruno), Marie (James), Michael (Anne) and Gilles (Kim); as well as his beloved seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and the many people that thought of him as a second father and friend. He was born in St. Jean Baptiste, MB, the fourth eldest in a family of 15. Throughout his life, he stayed true to his roots, working the land as his father had before him, leaving only briefly at the age of 20 to join the army. Upon his return, he married, settled on a farm in Dominion City. He is well known for his fierce intelligence, his gentle humor, and his compassion and strong sense of social justice. He toiled endlessly to improve the quality of life for farmers, rural Manitobans and his neighbors on the Roseau River First Nations. He was an active member of the National Farmers Union and the Knights of Columbus; and a founding member of the Dominion City Red River Co-op and the Dominion City Credit Union. He spent his retirement years in St. Boniface. The family wishes to thank Veterans Affairs Canada and all the wonderful homecare workers for their compassion and care. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 1:20 p.m. at St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale. A reception will follow. Should family and friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to The Movement Centre of Manitoba, 1646 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, MB, R2G 1N7. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
