DAVID FRANK DOERKSEN January 20, 1946 - September 12, 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Doerksen. Dave was born in Central Butte, Saskatchewan, January 20, 1946. At the age of ten his family moved to the farm at Riverton, Manitoba, where he lived until his passing. In spite of his battle with muscular dystrophy, Dave had a passion for the farm. It was because of his strong determination that he became very creative in inventing ways to do the work he loved. When farming became impossible for Dave, he turned his interests toward crafts and his brother Ed's museum. When Dave was ten years old he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and in spite of increasing limitations and health problems, his faith in God did not waiver. Dave is survived by his parents, Frank and Mary Doerksen; sisters Betty and Marianne (Patrick); brothers Albert (Norma) and Leonard (Elizabeth); sister-in-law Linda (Jake); as well as 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Alfred and Edward. Viewing will be Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverton Gospel Chapel, Riverton, Manitoba. Interment will be on Friday, September 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Geysir Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at the Riverton Gospel Chapel.
