Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD ROSS MARSCH Peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2009; Harold passed away at the Riverview Health Centre after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 81 years. Remaining to forever cherish Harold's memory are his wife of nearly 57 years Ruth (Sammy); daughter Connie (Ken) McConnell and grandsons Scott and Bryan; sons Ross (Wendy), Glen, Chris (Janice) and Wade; four brothers Lorenz (Madeline), Wilfred (Gwen), Wally (Wilma) and Ken, and sister Hattie Grabowski, sisters-in-law Isobel and Marj, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Don, Bob and George (Marlene); sisters Gertie (Bob) Wilson, Eleanor (Eric) Bunkowsky and Judy Marsch and brother-in-law Ernie Grabowski. Harold was born in Carman, Manitoba on November 12, 1927. He drove buses for Winnipeg Transit from 1952 until his retirement in February of 1989. Harold's compassion for people was demonstrated when he saved the life of a young man in distress while driving on one of his bus routes. Harold's love for his family and friends was evident in how he gave of himself unselfishly. Whether it was home renovations, helping out at harvest time, sandbagging or just a listening ear, he never complained and could always be counted on. He enjoyed watching his kids sporting events and was a great armchair referee. He loved his garden and supplied many people with their vegetable needs. Even in his last days at Riverview, he insisted fresh vegetables be brought in for the 3E staff. Harold also loved bowling, a good game of cards; his birthday club get togethers, polka parties, watching or listening to the Bombers and Jets, and berry picking which would often culminate in wine making. His dry sense of humour and quick wit will be greatly missed. On Saturday, September 19, 2009 Harold's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Brunkild, MB, with Pastor Leslie Poulin, presider. Honorary pallbearers will be the birthday club members. Family and friends may consider themselves his pallbearers. The family would like to thank all of Harold's doctors and the wonderful staff of 3E at Riverview Health Centre who made his time there as comfortable as possible. A special thanks to Tracey, the angel who brightened Harold's days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold's memory may be made to the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
