DOROTHY JONES On September 13, 2009 Mrs. Dorothy Christian Jones, aged 88 years, passed away. Mom was born on April 2, 1921 in the house that her father built at 684 Walker Avenue in Winnipeg. Before her first birthday mom relocated with her parents Anne and Robert Kinrade and her siblings to Charleswood where she lived for most of her life. Kinrade Street in Charleswood is named after mom's parents. Mom was the youngest of Anne and Robert's nine children. She was predeceased by her husband Ivor, her parents and her eight brothers and sisters and daughter-in-law Dawn Lawson. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Claude, Christian (Terry) and Mark; grand-children, John, Robyn, Matthew, Brett, Kaitlyn and Sheldon, brother-in-law Bert Martin and numerous nieces and nephews. In November 1942 mom traveled to Victoria, BC to marry Ivor Jones who was stationed at Esquimalt, BC. Ivor and Dorothy shared over 65 years together. When dad was transferred to the Atlantic Coast mom returned to Charleswood and Harstone Road where she would live for the next 65 years. Mom spent her time raising her three sons and planting flowers. Mom's roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinners and her shortbread cookies were always highlights of any visit home. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Charleswood Care Centre who made our mother's last years enjoyable and productive. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
