LAWRENCE (LORNE) NICHOLAS RITCHIE February 11, 1932 September 15, 2009 You are my sunshine. Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital in his 77th year with his family by his side. Lorne leaves his three daughters, Crystal (Greg) and Kelley in Winnipeg, Kim (John) grandsons Andrew, John in Calgary, his two brothers, Dan in Winnipeg, Al in San Diego, and his sister Rose in Mississauga. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Helen Repchinsky, brother Frank, and sister Alice Kent. Lorne was born in Charleton Station, SK, and raised on the family farm at Ibstone, SK. His parents eventually sold their farm and moved to Alverstone Street in Winnipeg to continue raising their family. As a young man, Lorne was the successful owner of Continental Caterers and a partner with his brother Dan in building Winnipeg's first drive-in restaurant, the Millionaire on Notre Dame Avenue. Lorne was a self made man and his business ventures eventually took him to San Diego and then to Oakville, ON. In March of 2003 Lorne moved back to Winnipeg where he thrived in the love, care, and attention of Crystal, Greg and Kelley, and he looked forward to visits from Kim. A memorial reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Lorne and his family would like to thank all of his homecare nurses and caregivers who provided him with excellent care over the last three years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, R2J 9Z9, Tel: 204-237-2067.
