Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA BANISH (nee YARMILL) Peacefully on September 15, 2009, Olga Banish passed away at Red River Place at the age of 86 years. Olga was born January 24, 1923 in the RM of Brokenhead, MB, moved in to Selkirk with husband Hank of 52 years and raised three boys, Ken, Bob and Glenn. She worked most of her life in Selkirk at the Dinette Restaurant, Browns Bread Bakery, Silverman's Department Store and retired out of Selkirk Linen Services. Olga loved her gardening and her home was adorned with plants and flowers, and with a large vegetable garden in which she lovingly nurtured and cared for. Also winning a few town awards for her gardening prowess. She was a devout member of the Holy Eucharist Catholic Church and loved singing and conducting the choir for many of her years. Olga is survived by her sons Glenn (Alma) and Bob (Janice); three grandsons, Todd (Lucy), Curtis and Chris; sisters, Mary Uskiw and Sophie Roth; sister-in-law Elsie Yarmill as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Hank; son Ken; grandson Garry; brothers, Harry, John, Mike, Nick and Peter. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Selkirk, MB with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment to take place in the Holy Family Cemetery. A special thank you is extended to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Red River Place Care Home; your care and support for mom in her last years was truly appreciated. Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire donations in memory of Olga may be made to the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Selkirk, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
