Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCYRUS K. VAUGHAN Peacefully, on September 14, 2009, Cyrus K. Vaughan passed away at the age of 93 years to be with his beloved wife Trudy at the Stonewall District Health Centre. He was predeceased by his father Cyrus A. Vaughan; his mother Christina Knox (Vaughan, nee Baird); his stepfather Nelson Knox; brother Nelson Jr.; sister Rose; step-brother Jack Knox; wife Trudy; brother Charles; sister Cynthia Rudolph. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Peter Vaughan (Doreen) Arnold Vaughan and daughter Joyce (Fred) Ritchot; brother Arthur (Sophie) Knox; grandchildren, William (Mary), Ben, Irene, Vanessa, Darcie and Kayla; great- grandchildren, Michelle and Logan and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and lifelong best friend Everett (Margaret) Sidwall. He was born in St. Vital on January 5, 1916. At the age of three the family moved to Molson, MB where he spent his early years until the age of 16. They then relocated to Mulvihill, MB to farm where he met his best friend Everett from Eriksdale. He joined the Canadian Army in May 1942 and served in Europe until October 1945. He was stationed in Vught, Holland where he met his future bride Trudy. After the war Cy and Trudy purchased a small farm in Eriksdale until they moved to Winnipeg in 1950. He was employed at a paper company for a few years and then joined Air Canada until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed having his family around him and was very supportive of all his children and grandchildren. If we needed help of any kind, he was always there. There will be a viewing at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009. A grave side service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18 at Warren Cemetery, Warren, MB with a tea to follow at the Warren Hall. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Stonewall Hospital for the care and attention they gave him in his last three weeks. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
