AUGUSTINE (SHORTY) (SYLVIA) DOWNEY (PLOUFFE) A fighter to the end with courage, strength and grace, Augustine Downey passed away on September 16, 2009 at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. Beloved wife of Robert Downey, devoted mother of Suzanne, Jeaninne, Francoise, Marlene, Sylvie (Stan) and sister-in-law Mary Jean Plouffe. Loved grandmother of Gordon, Christian, Patrick, Jennifer, Jill, Amanda, Crystal, Jason and Robert; great-grandmother of Lukas, Annabelle and Bryce. Mom was predeceased by her daughter Audrey, parents George and Pauline Plouffe, brother Johnny and sister Evelyn. In the last few months of life, Alzheimer's and cancer slowed her down but it never got her down. Mom was small but powerful; she loved to talk and visit and give her opinion. She was a great support and always there for us. She loved the little ones, family gatherings and flowers. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Door for the excellent care provided and a special thanks to Patty for visiting Mom. The family has honoured her wish of having her body donated for medical research. A service will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. For those who have a mother treasure her with care, you will never know the heartache felt when you find she isn't there. Always loved.
