CONNIE ELIZABETH VAN ALSTYNE Connie Elizabeth Van Alstyne passed away on September 15, 2009 at the Grace Hospice at the age of 81. Connie was born in Vista, Manitoba, daughter of Ronald and Betsy Hay. She attended Vista and Rossburn Schools and later graduated in 1950 from the Winnipeg General Hospital with her RN diploma. On July 12, 1952, she married Aubrey Van Alstyne of Roblin, Manitoba, and together they raised three children. Connie continued working at her endeared nursing career and retired at age 61. Connie and Aubrey enjoyed traveling and visited much of Canada, the USA and Europe. They spent many winter vacations down south. Each trip brought a new highlight to their life. Connie was a faithful member of the United Church. She enjoyed watching and listening to sports, playing cards and games, and was an enthusiastic curler and golfer for many years. Many hours and proud moments have been spent with her grandchildren. Connie is predeceased by her parents, sister Margaret Hay, brother Charles Hay, sisters-in-law, Verna Hay and Bernice Hay, and brother-in-law Jeff Van Alstyne. She is survived by husband Aubrey; daughters, Joy (Rob) Wilson, Nancy (Thor) Hovmand, and son Murray (Brenda) Van Alstyne. Also surviving is brother Ronald Hay and sister-in-law Marilyn Van Alstyne, and six grandchildren. Our family extends our heartfelt appreciation to all staff on Palliative Care Ward (8th floor St. Boniface) and to the Grace Hospice. If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made in Connie's memory to a charity of your choice. A private family service will be held at Chapel Lawn followed by a funeral service at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 11:00am. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
