KATHARIENA (KAY) DERKSEN (nee Giesbrecht) December 20, 1909 - August 6, 2009 Kathariena (Kay) was born in Russia and passed away peacefully in Surrey, BC. She is lovingly remembered and missed by her daughters Annette MacFarlane-Smith (Dale Syrota) of Millet, AB, Dianne Derksen-Green (Ron Moropito) of Surrey, BC and Pearl (Jerry Drews) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren Sonya-Lee (Justan Chartier) of London, ON, Michelle (Jamie Mackie) of Medicine Hat, AB, Tristan and Timothy Drews of Calgary AB; and great-grandchildren Kyla and Breanna Mackie; sister Agatha Jones of Abbotsford, BC; nieces, nephews and friends. Kay was predeceased by her husband Jacob Derksen of Winnipeg, MB. Interment will take place Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. We invite family and friends to join us in this celebration. Refreshments will be provided. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice in Kay's memory.
