JOSEPH STRAHL Joseph passed away on September 18, 2009 at 87 years of age at Concordia Hospital. Joe was born in Bosnia on January 15, 1922. He was predeceased by his parents. Joseph immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Winnipeg shortly thereafter. He was employed by Rogers Sugar where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for many years until his retirement. Joe was well respected by co-workers and was always ready and willing to lend a hand to others. Joe was an honorary member of the German Society of Winnipeg where he was an active member for over 50 years. He devoted a lot of his time and effort to the club and played an active role each year when they hosted the German pavilion at Folklorama. Joe will be greatly missed by the members, many of whom became his lifelong friends. Joe lived for the summer months out at his trailer in Gimli at Camp Neustadt and spent many happy times there. In recent years he would vacation in Cuba which became his favourite winter destination. Joe was a very generous and giving individual and will be greatly missed by his many friends. Special thanks go out to all the nurses and support staff at the Concordia Hospital for all their care and kindness. Funeral service will be held for Joe at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews Street, on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. A reception and luncheon will follow. The interment will be private.
