VICTORIA GRACE SIGURDSON It is with a deep sadness that we say our final farewell to our dear mother and grandmother, Victoria Grace Sigurdson, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 19, 2009 at the age of 90. Mom was predeceased by her parents Solberg and Sigridur Sigurdson of Hnausa, Manitoba; her husband Magnus Sigurdson in 1956 and her daughter Lorna Sigurdson of Victoria in 2008. Her people will always cherish her memory, daughters, Lorraine Kerr of East Braintree, MB and Sharon Todd of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Pat (Bob) McVeigh, Susan Sienema, Don (Sheila) Kerr, Ron Kerr, Christine Kerr, Cindy Todd, Trevor Todd and Jason (Marina) Sigurdson; great-grandchildren, Leah and Cara McVeigh, Kevin Sienema, Steven, Lindsey, Allyse, Cameron, and Gavin Kerr, Shaelyn Kerr and Mikayla Todd. Mother is also survived by her sister Jorunn (Joey) Lahti of Thunderbay, Ontario. In the early years, our father was in the Air Force and was transferred to different provinces where Mom enjoyed meeting many wonderful people. Mom was loved by all who knew her. She was the soul of goodness and kindness. Widowed at a young age, our Mother bravely rose to the challenge of raising her three young daughters. Her compassion and patience was limitless and served her well in providing and caring for her children and grandchildren and in her nursing profession. Mom excelled in everything she did, whether it was cooking, baking, knitting, sewing and even her beautiful penmanship. She was always highly praised and will be remembered for her strong work ethic and stamina. Mother was always proud of her Icelandic heritage and her pioneer relatives and their contributions in the establishing of Breidavik (later Hnausa, MB). We will always be grateful that we have had such a wonderful person as our mother. We love you with all our heart.until we meet again. Funeral services will be held at The Beverley Centre at 1:00 p.m. on September 21, 2009 with Pastor Anthony Heiraas of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Hnausa, MB at a later date. A special note of appreciation to Florence Young, Dr. Meiring and to the staff of the Beverley Centre.
