RAYMOND (RAY) ALEXANDER BROWN After a brief illness, in the wee hours on Friday, September 18 2009; Ray quietly passed away; with his wife and mother at his side, at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 53 years. Remaining to forever cherish Ray's memory are his wife of six years Carol Tasse; mother Kay Brown; son Travis Brown, whom he was so proud of; stepson Tim Tasse and stepdaughter Tasha (Kevin) Tasse; uncle Ding (Jim) and Marge Whitney; aunts, Jessie Montgomery, Gloria (Orest) Recunyk and numerous cousins. He will also be missed by his biological siblings, Danny, Shari, Sandy, Valerie; niece Heather and nephews, Stephen, Jonathon as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his brother Ray Brown in 1951; father Harold Brown in 2005; Nanny in 1995 and Bumbum Anderson in 1987. Ray was born on October 17, 1955 in Winnipeg and spent his entire life living in St. James. Ray went to Brittania Elementary and graduated in June of 1975 from Sturgeon Creek and later from Herzing Institute. He spent many summers working at the Red River Ex, and he worked part time at Winnipeg Enterprise and worked his way up to manager of Select-A-Seat. He furthered his education at RRCC and currently worked as a Computer Hosting Infrastructure Analyst for the Energy Mines branch of the Provincial Government. Ray had a great sense of humour, always joking with doctors, nurses and family all the way to the end. He loved to fish, but couldn't touch or eat them as he was allergic. He loved music, his cats and his NFL football and golf. Ray especially loved being at his cottage at Grand Marais, and he was always muttering and puttering in and around the cottage. He never failed to help anyone in need and never asked for anything in return. He always looked for the good in people. Ray had a real love of life and wouldn't want anyone to mourn him. For those who wish, viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, September 23, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue at Sharp Blvd. A Celebration of Ray's life will be held on Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Avenue in the upstairs hall. Cremation and Interment will be held at a later date. A special thanks to the staff in SICU and MICU at the Health Sciences Centre for their loving and caring attention. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3 or a charity of your choice. Ray will be sadly missed by all and the world will be a little lonelier.

Ray & I dated off & on throughout our teen years, & remained friends. We reconnected shortly before he passed & renewed our friendship through email. RIP Ray, you were an amazing guy with a great sense of humor. Your obit is so true, the world will be a little lonelier without you. - Posted by: Carole (Ex girlfriend) on: Oct 08, 2017

I met Ray at Herzing Institute, studying computer programming together. I remember that he had a crazy sense of humor, and we always had a good laugh together. I remember being the brunt of his jokes more than once in class. We both worked for the province in different offices, unbeknown to me until I heard about his passing. If I had known he was working down the street from me, I would have liked to have gotten together for coffee and got caught up on our lives. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. Missing you every day uncle Ray. I'm still in disbelief that you're gone, and for some time now. Indeed you left us too soon. Love Princess. - Posted by: Ashlen ('niece') on: Dec 03, 2012

It's been years since Ray passed but only minute since I've been aware of his passing. I knew Ray as a kid (we were both in the teen years when we intersected). Ray was a great, generous, guy, he left us too early. Dan - Posted by: Dan Buchanan (old fried) on: Oct 06, 2012
