Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET BISHOP October 25, 1926 September 17, 2009 Peacefully on Thursday at St. Boniface Hospital, Margaret passed away at the age of 82. She was predeceased by her parents George and Ida and brother-in-law Bill Levy. She is survived by her loving sister Muriel Levy of Winnipeg, and her adored nephew Paul Levy, his wife Diane, great-niece and great-nephew Christy and Steven, all of Calgary, also many cousins. Margaret was born in Miami, Manitoba on October 25, 1926. During her teens, she was a patient at Ninette Sanatorium for approximately two years. When she moved to Winnipeg, she joined Canada Mortgage and Housing where she was employed for 26 years, retiring in 1982. For over 50 years, Margaret was an enthusiastic and devoted volunteer for children's health care. She was a longtime Board Member of the Children's Hospital Foundation and a Quarter Century Member of the Chown Guild of the Hospital. She was a founding member of the Children's Hospital Book Market and for the last 49 years spent countless hours marking books in preparation for the annual sale. She was known as the Pocket Book Lady . In 2002, the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, specifically the Child Life Endowment Fund, working with Margaret established the Margaret Bishop Child Life Endowment Fund. This perpetual Fund ensures that Child Life Programs will always be available to hospitalized children. She was also a faithful volunteer of the Manitoba Lung Association. Margaret enjoyed many happy summers at her cottage at Ponemah and traveled in the winter months. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 130 Nassau Street North, Winnipeg. A graveside service will be held later the same day at 3:30 p.m. at Altamont Cemetery. A reception will follow each service. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Margaret Bishop Child Life Endowment Fund, care of The Children's Hospital Foundation, CE501 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1.
