WILLIAM (BILL) SAWICKI William Sawicki passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, September 19, 2009 with the love of his life Patricia by his side and in the home they shared for 55 years. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Mary Patricia; daughters, Bev (Tony), Diane (Ken); grandchildren, Kim, Matthew (Robin), Ken (Kelly) and Jennifer (Troy), great-granddaughter Avery and nephew Brian. Bill was born 82 years ago in a small house on Elgin Avenue in Brooklands. He grew up with his mom Teenie, father Michael and two sisters Anne and Mary and nephew Brian. Sadly he lost his Mom when he was only 13 and his father when he was 26. He was also predeceased by his sisters Anne and Mary and son-in-law Terry. William served as an altar boy and later married Pat in the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church on Ada Street. He was a member of the youth group and a loyal member of the church until he passed away. Also he was an active member of the Brooklands Senior Club and donated and enjoyed a lot of his time over the last 25 years. After marrying Patricia, Dad painstakingly built their first home on William Avenue by digging the basement by hand. Two years later they bought and moved into his sister Anne's house. Bill loved to go fishing and blueberry picking with Pat and eventually bought a cabin at Lee River where they spent many happy years. Dad loved his garden and spent his summer days under his old apple tree meditating and watching his prize tomatoes and cucumbers grow. Bill was known for his friendly ways, good sense of humour and funny antics. He loved to talk to everyone and often put on a show to make his family laugh. He loved, supported, spoiled and worried all his life about his two daughters Bev and Diane. A true father, we appreciated everything you did for us Dad and will carry you in our hearts forever. Bill's courageous and independent spirit was evident until his last day. He loved to drive his car and insisted on shovelling his own snow, cutting his own grass and recently pulled out most of his garden. Our Dad was a true pioneer but we saw him getting very tired and knew in our hearts that he had to go. We were blessed to have had him especially over these last six years. Our sincere thank-you to the Winnipeg Fire and Ambulance Dept. for their quick response time, valiant efforts and compassionate care given over the last several visits to our home. Also to the HSC Emergency Dept. staff over the last six years. To his nurse and doctor at HSC that morning, thank-you for your outstanding professional and kind care. Lastly, thank-you to Dr. B.A. Gorski, Orysia and Linda from Parkview Clinic. In accordance with the deceased's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family funeral will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Thank-you for your never-ending love and sacrifice. May you rest in Eternal Peace surrounded by the love of your heavenly family. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
