Mike is survived by his wife Freda of 45 years; children, Michael (Vivian) and Sandra (Lloyd); grandchildren, Brittany, Brandi, Brooke, Bree, Tia and Tanner and his lil' Ali-Mae. He also leaves brothers Fred, George (Josie), Carl (Darlene) and sisters Gertrude and Kay. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Sarah Whiteway; sisters Eileen Sutherland and Isla Oates and brother Ernest Whiteway. Dad worked on the lakes since he was a young man. He was presently employed with Government Infrastructure (Northern Airports and Marine) where he worked as a captain and maintenance technician. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren. He was a man who needed and asked for very little. The family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude to the nurses and doctors at the Selkirk General Hospital and also St. Boniface Hospital. They have taken excellent care of Pops during his stay in the hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev.
