Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRALPH JAMES MCWHIRTER August 10, 1925 September 23, 2009 Peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 23, Ralph McWhirter passed away at the Victoria General Hospital with family at his side. Ralph is survived by his wife Flora and his children, Lori (Bruce), Don (Darlene), Rob (Diane); his daughter-in-law Brenda, and his grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Katie, Austin and Kirsten. He loved his family and was very proud of them. Ralph was predeceased by his son Bruce, his parents Andrew and Elizabeth McWhirter, as well as his twin sister Audrey Scott. Ralph was born and educated in Winnipeg. During the latter years of the Second World War, he served with both the RCAF (air crew) and then with the Canadian Army. Following his discharge, he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba. He studied accountancy and then spent most of his working years in the accounting department of CN Rail, retiring as the Budget Officer for the Prairie Region of the railway. Ralph loved music both as a performer and as an administrator. He sang in the Norwood United Church choir for 55 years. Ralph was an honorary lifetime member of the Winnipeg Music Festival. A service celebrating Ralph's life will be held at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road, on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
