Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) TAIT Peacefully with his family at his side, Bill passed away on September 18, 2009 at Lions Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 99. He is survived by his sons, Bob (Barb), Vernon, BC and Tom, Thompson, MB; his daughters, Betty (Dennis), Lac du Bonnet, MB, Sherry (Brian), Sydney, Australia, daughter-in- law Simone, Vancouver; brother Alex, Edinburgh, Scotland. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife Betty; son Bill, Vancouver, BC; brothers, Charlie and Bob, and sisters, Christie, Aggie, and Annie. Bill was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1929. He was married in 1937 and moved to Calgary, with Picardys Bakery, returned to Winnipeg in 1945 where he ran several bakeries with his wife Betty, including the Thistle Bakery, Scotch Bakery and later, the Grand Beach Bakery. They retired in 1975 and moved to Beausejour, MB in 1976, returning to Winnipeg in 1984. Bill was a member of Sons of Scotland, Wallace Camp. He was on the executive of Beausejour Seniors Club, and Elmwood Seniors Club. Bill organized Elmwood Seniors Bus Tours for many years. His later years he spent living in Lions Manor and went into the Lions Personal Care Home in April, 2008. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the Staff of Lions Manor Personal Care Home and a special thank you to the 3rd floor staff who looked after Dad in his final months. Dear Bob,Barb and family How very sad and sorry i was to hear of Mr Tait's passing.I know through Bob he was a wonderfull gentleman who allways put his family first and worked very hard perfecting his skills as a master baker .I understand he was also very active supporting local clubs and lending a helping hand when he could.On behalf of the entire winter family please accept my most heartfelt sympathy.
