JACOB PENNER Early in the morning of September 27, 2009, Jacob Penner, aged 76, died at Seven Oaks Hospital after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jake is survived by his wife Greta; his daughter Audrey; his sons, Gregory and David; his sister Mary; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Ronald. Jake and Greta founded Penndale Nursery in 1969. He will be fondly remembered by many employees and customers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

I worked for Jake when I was 23 years old at his nursery. I'm forty eight now. I purchased a Goodland apple tree from Jake at the end of the summer work year, today that tree stands hi and strong bearing many fruit per season. This tree is a reminder of Jake's kindness, motivation he instilled in me and the good memories I have of working there that summer.
