TIMOTHY BOONSTRA With his family by his side, Timothy Boonstra passed away peacefully at the Beausejour Hospital on Saturday, September 26, 2009 in his 62nd year after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Tim was predeceased by his parents Hendrik and Antje; son Roger; sisters, Pietje (Pat), Janneke (Jane), and Margje. Tim leaves behind to mourn his wife of 38 years Laura; son Walter (Jaime Dawn; grandsons, Jeffrey and Matthew) Boonstra; daughter Kim (Curt; granddaughter Jessi, grandson James) Germaine, and daughter Cheryl (Scott; grandson Dylan) Wong; brothers, Gerrit, Bill, and John; sisters, Eilkje, Trudy, and Anneke, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Tim was born in Holland on June 5, 1947 and immigrated to Canada with his family when he was five years old. At his time of passing he was employed with Canadian Cellulose Industries in Winnipeg. He was a passionate man, especially when it came to family, music, politics, and sports. No matter what he was doing, there had to be music, with John Lennon's Imagine being among his favourites. He was quick to make a person smile, be it an old friend, or someone he just met, and always made you feel welcome in his home. While watching sports he could be quite emotional, he would either jump off of the couch clapping and cheering when his favourite team scored a point, or he would be yelling at a player or official when they weren't doing what he thought they should. It was almost as though he thought that they could hear him through the T.V. He was also very passionate about politics, he spent many mornings arguing with the Free Press and himself over one political view or another. As a younger man, Tim plied his trade as a carpenter, and became very good at it. He was an extremely knowledgeable man, and loved all of his family very much. There will be a graveside ceremony held at the Garson Cemetery on Friday, October 2, 2009 to be followed with a luncheon at the Garson Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family have requested that donations be made to the CancerCare Manitoba, Beausejour Hospital T.V. Fund and/or the Children's Wish Foundation.

Pops. Not a day goes by that you're not in my thoughts. It has been a little over 6 years since you've passed but it seems just like yesterday that you were amongst us with your infinite wisdom and infectious smile. You'd be proud of the young men that Jeffrey and Mattie are becoming, Jeffrey with our love of music and sports, and Mattie's becoming quite the hockey star. We all miss and love you dad. - Posted by: walter (son) on: Oct 07, 2015

My father...oh how I miss you. Not a day goes by that my mind doesn't wander to a day with you in it. Thank you for being such an amazing Dad and friend to me. I keep your memory alive through your stories and music, we got another John Lennon fan in Jessi. She sure misses you "Crazy Grandpa". And James talks about you regularly, he remembers the candy you used to buy him, he was only 3 right. We all miss you and love you very much, and knowing one day that God will reunite us is what keeps me strong. Love you Daddy always and forever. xoxo - Posted by: Kim Germaine (Daughter) on: Mar 27, 2012
