MIRIAM (MIR) GLADYS TRUEMAN , R.N. (nee MAYFIELD) Miriam Trueman, 73, died peacefully September 30, 2009, with her family by her side, after a four year battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jack, her children Tom (Cathy), Terry (Darlene) and Todd (Susan), her nine grandchildren; Rebecca, Jennifer (Matt), Saxon (Hailey), Jordana, Brittany, Sarah, Jeremy, Ashley and Tamara, and by her sister, Audrey Koch. She was predeceased by her parents William and Miriam Mayfield. Miriam was a graduate of the St. Boniface Hospital Nursing School. She was an amazing mother, but she was born to be a grandmother. She treated each of her grandchildren with love and compassion and fed them, both with her delicious baking and her amazing spirit. She never forgot a birthday, or missed a dance recital, school play, symphony performance or graduation. Miriam loved to travel. She took her family and her youthful personality to Disney World, Mexico and on several Caribbean cruises. Miriam was strong and spirited, and even after suffering a stroke, she made her way to Vienna, Austria to visit with family. Miriam was fun loving, positive, patient, generous and kind. Miriam was happiest spending time with her grandchildren, whether it was playing post man' or Rummoli, teaching them how to knit, baking her world famous chocolate chip cookies with them, taking them to bingo, playing dress up, helping them decorate her Christmas tree with home-made Styrofoam cup hats, making Barbie accessories for them, watching Alvin and the Chipmunks, or talking with them on the phone about anything and everything for hours. Miriam always knew how to love and how to make everyone smile. Miriam was a member of the Manitoba Club where she enjoyed throwing parties for her family. She enjoyed her trips to the Casinos with the South Beach Group, was an active member of the Eagles Club, and an avid bingo player. She donated her time and money to such causes as Cancer Care, Stroke Recovery, PBS and the Wildlife Fund. Our Grandma, Our Inspiration . The family wishes to thank the staff of the Riverview Palliative Care Centre for providing such wonderful care. At Mir's request there will be no funeral service. In Miriam's memory, donations can be made to the Stroke Recovery Foundation of Manitoba Inc., Unit B-247 Provencher Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R2H 0G6, Tel: (204) 942-2880 or a charity of your choice.
