MILDRED JOYCE CHESLOCK (JACQUES) Surrounded by family and friends with Ken holding her hand, Mildred passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Mildred is survived by her husband of 31 years, Ken Jacques. She was born January 1, 1949, the only child of Mary and Steve Cheslock. She was raised and educated in the north end of Winnipeg. She lived her entire life in the same home. Mildred attended Faraday, Isaac Newton and St. John's High School. It was at St. John's where she met the love of her life, Ken Jacques. They were best friends, and she was his rock. Mildred continued her education at the University of Manitoba graduating in Social Work in 1971. Upon graduation she got her dream job, working with children. She loved her job as much as her co-workers. Mildred had an adventurous spirit, which took her and Ken to many fabulous places throughout the world but her most favourite place was the cottage they shared at Hillside Beach. It was there, Mildred was her happiest, spending time with their beach family . Mildred had strong Ukrainian traditional values. She celebrated the holidays both religiously and spiritually. Thank you to the staff on the 5th floor of the Women's Hospital for all their compassion and help. We can never express our gratitude. Prayers will be held on Sunday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Chapel. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made in Mildred's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
