Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONA GIAVEDONI (nee VYVERMAN) Peacefully on October 1, 2009, Leona passed away at Golden Links Lodge at 90 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred and her parents; Camiel and Emily Vyverman. She will be sadly missed by her sons Cam (Janice) and John; her grandchildren, Travis, Claire and Kari; also her two sisters, Del (Alfred) Callegari of Etobicoke, ON; sister Elizabeth (Rochus) DeDecker of Erembodegem, Belgium. Mom moved to Canada from Belgium when she was nine and lived and attended school in St. Boniface. She met and later married her husband Alfred on September 27, 1941 and enjoyed 49 years with him until his passing in 1990. She loved to garden, look after the house, and when most people consider retirement she decided to work at Eaton's. She was very active; always wanting to dance and even took up the game of golf in her late 70's. Our memories of Mom have a special place in our hearts and she will be greatly missed. Time with her three grandchildren was dear to her heart and she loved being with them and watching them grow up. She loved celebrating birthdays, holidays and going out for her favorite dinner of burgers and fries. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with a public viewing at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church 510 River Ave. Rev. Father Renato Pasinato celebrant. Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave immediately following the reception. Our family extends heartfelt appreciation to staff at the Golden Links Lodge for providing her with a supportive home. If friends so desire, a donation may be made in Leona's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba (475-7031).
