ROBERT GERVAIS On October 3, 2009, we lost a wonderful man, our beloved father Robert passed away at the Middlechurch Home at the age of 78 years, with family at his side. Remaining to forever cherish Robert's memory, are his children Pauline, Richard, Carol (Al Schritt), Catherine (Kevin McBain), Rob, Elaine (Glen Hagen), Michael (Marilyn Dubois); his grandchildren Cassandra (Stephen St. Pierre), Shawn (Erin Buckels), Charlotte, Holden and Evan; great-grandchildren Stephanie and Justin. Robert is lovingly remembered by his brothers Joseph (Betty), Charles, Eugene (Janet) and André (Dora); dearest of friends Sally and Eugene Shymkiew and Diane Peloquin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his two daughters Christine and Lorraine, his siblings Florence (Bud) Broughton, Cecile (Louis) Compeau, Alfred and Henry. Robert was born in St. Boniface, raised in St. Eustache and attended St. Paul's High School in Winnipeg. He married the love of his life Anita Bernadette Sanche on July 27, 1951 and raised their children in St. Boniface and Fort Richmond. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1951 to 1958. Robert's schooling brought him a journey of self-employment. This included his ownership of Hair Bond/Head-masters of Winnipeg until the time of his retirement. Dad's greatest love was undoubtedly his children. He had a passion for gardening and adored his bunny rabbits. His favourite expression was You are no bunny til some bunny loves you . Dad's greatest qualities were his selflessness, his generosity, and his ability to uplift the spirits of others and put a smile on someone's face with his witty sense of humour. Dad's passing will leave a tremendous void in our lives and he will be sadly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff of Middlechurch Home, which we consider as an extension of our family, for their care, compassion and friendship given to our father and family. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street.
