PATRICIA JUNE AYRES (nee HARMAN) Peacefully, on Sunday, October 4, 2009, after a brief illness, Pat Ayres, aged 81, passed away at St. Anne Hospital with loved ones at her side. Remaining to forever cherish Pat's memory are her brother Gerry and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Bill and brothers, Ray and Reginald (Bud). Born June 13, 1928 in Winnipeg, Pat was the only daughter to Morris and Elizabeth Harman. She was raised on Ottawa Avenue in East Kildonan and like her three brothers was involved in athletics, skiing, hockey and golf. She wrote a weekly column on skiing for the local community newspaper, The Elmwood Herald. Many summers and weekends were enjoyed at the Family Cottage at Sandy Hook where Pat became an avid boater and water skier. Pat was employed at Abbott Laboratories where she met her husband-to-be, Bill Ayres. After leaving Abbotts, she completed her working career at Unger Roofing. Once retired, Pat and Bill sold their home in Winnipeg and moved to Paradise Village in St. Anne, Manitoba where they became active in the Community, making numerous friendships. It was there where they spent their summers, while winters were spent mainly in Texas with travel also in Canada and the U.S.A. They belonged to the Manitoba Goldeyes Good Sam Trailer Club, The Explorers Club and the Paradise Campers Club. In accordance with Pat's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. The Family expresses their sincerest thanks to all of the wonderful staff and volunteers at the St. Anne, Steinbach, St. Boniface and Grace Hospitals.
