DAVID DONALD WILLIAMSON February 22, 1944 Halifax, Nova Scotia At 12:12 p.m. on October 5, 2009 Dave passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 65. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Walter Williamson and Virginia (Adams) Wonnacott. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife Val; Children, Nicole (Brian) Andrews, Jay (Natalie), Chantal; Grandchildren, Taiya, Alyssa, and Evan. He will also be missed by his brother Doug (Paulina) Copp, Uncle Don (Rita) Pulsifer as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dave was raised by his grandparents; Reg and Margaret Pulsifer in Chester and Halifax, Nova Scotia. He attended Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax. He played Junior hockey and achieved a black belt in Judo. Dave was part of the RCMP from 1963 - 1966. He then switched careers and became a Helicopter Pilot in 1968 until he retired in 2008. During this time he had the opportunity to fly all over North America meeting many who became lifelong friends. Dave enjoyed working on his house, his yard and his vehicles. He was a history enthusiast who also loved to learn about his family's' genealogy. Hockey Night in Canada was a ritual and the Montreal Canadians were a passion. He was also known for spending many hours on the computer chatting with friends and colleagues under the moniker Cap and the avatar of a wise old owl. Dave had a dry sense of humor, was compassionate and fun to be around. He was well respected throughout the aviation industry for his knowledge, commitment and helping out of younger pilots. Some who knew Dave would say he was humble and gracious; to others he would be feisty, stubborn and a good BSer. His specialty around the house was hockey pucks disguised as hamburgers. He could be caught saying, You don't know where going unless you know where you've been. Lime crushes and Mr. Big bars were Dad's staples at home. Dad always wanted to buy random things from the store as soon as he saw a commercial for it or he got a craving for it. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with and interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's memory to the St. Boniface Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba. The staff was excellent in the care shown to Dad. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
