JACK SKINNER January 4, 1919 - October 7, 2009 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jack Skinner on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Misericordia Health Centre. Jack was born England in 1919 and moved to Winnipeg soon after. He attended Gordon Bell High School where he met his future wife Olive, they were married on January 1, 1941. Jack served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy and was stationed in Halifax during the war. After the war Jack returned to Winnipeg where he worked for Winnipeg Electric Company and Manitoba Hydro for 46 years, retiring in 1982. Jack was a kind and generous person who was always willing to lend a hand. He had a quick wit and a sense of humour that made him a person everyone enjoyed. His pursuit of perfection was evident in everything he did, whether it was his woodworking or his impeccable calligraphy. He also played the clarinet in a band at the German and Belgium Clubs for many years. Throughout his life he cherished time spent working in his garden, seeing things grow and evolve. His enthusiasm for photography was evident in the many images of nature he captured, in particular, the flowers and wildlife in his backyard. One of his greatest joys was his car, which he cared for meticulously. On many Sundays Jack and Olive would spend time visiting the small towns of Manitoba. Jack was predeceased by his sons Neil and Alan. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 68 years, Olive, his daughter Janet, his sons David and Paul, daughters-in-law, Lori, Marilyne, Evelyn and Judy, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In keeping with Jack's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 3:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
