NEDELJKO BENIC It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Nedeljko Benic, who lost his battle with cancer on October 9th, 2009. Left to cherish the wonderful memories of Nedeljko are his children Ned, Rebecca, James (Selena), his grandson Andrew, his special friend Elisabeth, and his numerous family members and friends in Croatia and Australia. Nedeljko was predeceased by his loving wife, Eileen; his mother, Ljubica, his father, Ante-Ive; his brother, Ico; his sisters, Zorka, Maria, and Anka. Nedeljko was born in Nevidane, Croatia, and immigrated to Canada as a young man where he met Eileen. They wed in 1966 and enjoyed 27 years of marriage. Nedeljko was employed as a stone mason for the majority of his life until he retired from Parks Canada in 2004. One of the highlights of Nedeljko's life was the birth of his grandson Andrew. He was proud to be Andrew's Dida and his love for Andrew filled his heart with joy. Nedeljko will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving and special person and he will be forever be held in our memories and in our hearts. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Alex Meseman, Tony Sadl, Kevin Shindak and James Benic. A heartfelt thank you from our family is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit in the St. Boniface Hospital.
