Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLAN EDWIN SPURGEON June 12, 1949 - October 6, 2009 Allan, beloved husband of Rita Spurgeon of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the age of 60 years. Allan was born in Winnipeg, MB, graduated with an honours degree in Geology from the University of Manitoba in 1972 and moved to Calgary, where he has since resided. Allan was a prominent figure in the oil and gas industry, having guided several companies to great success. Allan was very passionate about aviation, having obtained his pilot's license before his driver's license. Being one of the founding members of the Invermere Soaring Centre, he spent many years soaring the skies of the area. Besides his loving wife Rita, Allan is survived by his children, Kevin (Teresa), Gordon, Cynthia and a grandson Keaton, all of Calgary; a sister Shirley (Kelvin) Syrnick and brother-in-law Ken Rudolf, both of Winnipeg. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Isabelle and Ronald Spurgeon, two sisters, Patricia Wylie and Judy Rudolf, and a brother-in-law Earl Wylie Funeral Services will be held at The Springbank Community Church (located just off Hwy. 1, directly across from Calaway Park, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
