HELEN FREDA BAIN (BILLSON) On October 11, 2009, at Grace Hospice, with her family by her side, Helen went to be with her husband Norm. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Daisy Billson and her loving husband Norman Bain. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Brian Finnegan (Mary), daughter Anne Johnson (Randy) and daughter Tracey Taylor (Mark), along with grandchildren, Shawna (Dylan), Heather, Rory, Lorissa, Marley, Dylan, Lexi and great-granddaughter Jocelyn. Also, her brothers Roy (Carol) and George Billson (Eunice) and her dear sister Iris. Helen loved life and overcame many challenges and obstacles in her 80 years. Her strength and determination could be seen in everything she did. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She encouraged them to be themselves and explore new things. She moved to Winnipeg 10 years ago from Ingersoll, Ontario after Norm died. She loved Winnipeg and would drive family and friends all over to show off her new city and province. Helen loved music and played her piano any chance she got. Along with her love of music was her love to dance and she attended many dances at various senior centres around the city. In fact, she met Norm at a dance in Ingersoll. Helen enjoyed a good game of cards. She had a great sense of humour and at Halloween you were always left to wonder what outfit she would show up in. Helen had wonderful friends and we would like to thank them all for their support and kindness especially during these last few months. She loved your visits and outings very much. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Grace Hospice for all their care and compassion and allowing Helen her independence until the end. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Hospice.
