Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRENE JOSEPH BERUBE September 22, 1921 October 12, 2009 Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, Dad passed away on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the age of 88. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 61 years, Marguerite (nee Blais); his four sons, Raymond (Debbie Contant), Paul (Lorraine Rémillard), Denis (Monique Gervais), and Maurice (Pat Laurin). He leaves behind a legacy of 13 grandchildren Nicole (Dan), Krista (Vito), Danielle (Damon), Joel, Jeremy, Michael (Erika), Marc, Patrick, Justin, Mélanie (Travis), Christine (Justin), Curtis, Christopher, and six great-grandchildren, Britanny, Hannah, Haley, Isabella, Geneviève, and Lucas. He also leaves behind to mourn his sister, Jeanne Chaput, his sisters-in-law, Lucille (Asselin) and Mavis Blais (Patton). Dad enlisted in the army with the PPCLI Infantry and was injured in the line of duty. While serving in Italy and Europe, one of his good army buddies convinced his sister, Marguerite, to begin writing to René. Marguerite remembered René from school and enjoyed sending him news from home. Once he returned from the war, he decided to look up his pen pal, and the rest is history. René lived his life the way he fought during the war - - with great bravery, true faith, and compassion for human life. He suffered with Dystonia for over 24 years but never complained. His family is his legacy. There was never a shortage of love in their home. He will be truly missed by his entire family. Special thanks to Nurse Anna L., Dr. James Longstaffe and the entire staff on GH 3 at Health Sciences Centre for the compassionate care they gave our Dad. Funeral will be held on Friday, October 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Précieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny Street.
